About This Course

The course is designed to cover the on-line lectures on the structure of a research paper and writing argumentative essays on the topics offered. The course participants are expected to obtain the practical writing skills through drafting essays and evaluating them from other course participants.

Lecture 2. How to write the Abstract for a research paper
Lecture 3. How to write the Introduction to a research paper
Lecture 4. How to write a Literature Review?
Lecture 5. How to write Materials and Methods section in a research paper
Lecture 6. The Content of Materials and Methods Section
Lecture 7. The Content of Materials and Methods Section
Lecture 8. How to write the Results section of a research paper?
Lecture 9. How to write the Discussion section in a research paper?
Lecture 10. How to write the Conclusion section of a research paper?

Learning outcomes

LO1.plan and write a more sophisticated argument research paper, dissertation;
LO2. read and analyze articles by other authors to form their own opinion on a topic;
LO3.make connections between several articles;
LO4. form thesis statements from their readings;
LO5.use sources effectively when writing a research paper;
LO6.identify plagiarism and explain how to prevent it;
LO7. read critically and evaluate various texts from the point of view how its author plannedand constructed the structure of their research work;
LO 8. Read critically and analyze the scientific texts from the point of view of the content of their various sections;
LO 9. Correctly formulate the Title for their research work;
LO 10. correctly write the Abstract for their research paper;
LO 11. to correctly construct the sequence of the their research paper sections and appropriately and consistently present their research in Methodology, Discussion and Conclusion sections;

A1.: critically read and evaluate the structure and content of articles by authors published in scientific journals in Kazakhstan and abroad;
A 2.: compare the structure and content of 3 articles by the scholars on the specialties of the students’ area of scientific research;
A3.: make an outline of a research topic;
A4.:gather information and write literature review;
A5.: analyze the scientific texts from point of view of the stages of research process;
A6.: correctly formulate the appropriate the Title for the research paper;
A7.: choose the appropriate title with the react hook;
A8.: correctly write the Absract for a research paper;
A 9: construct the correct step-by-step plan of a research procedure;
A10.:correctly and adequately present their research work in Methodology, Discussion and Conclusion sections;

Muldagaliyeva Aizhan Aidingaliyevna

Candidate of philological sciences, dozent, holder of Fullbright grant, author of more than 90 scientific papers on linguistic theory and methodology of foreign language teaching. She is the author of al-Farabi University study programs on the disciplines “General English” and “Professional English”. It is her firm standpoint that in teaching a foreign language the principal aim of a teacher should be navigating the idea of developing the students' speaking and listening skills. In order to achieve these aims teachers should build their methods on wide application of Interactive digital tools and virtual learning spaces that can be effective in engaging learners with language, content, and culture that largely promote language proficiency.

Master of sciences, author of an on-line course “Agylshyn Tili” with 5 years of experience in teacing “General English”and “Professional English”. She has a good command of English. In her teaching experience Januzakova A. applies a flipped classroom approach which is a type of blended learning where students are introduced to content at home and practice working through it at school. Her main standpoint in methods of teaching a foreign language is creation of dynamic and highly interactive learning environment in class.
